Reimaging news coverage

Maddy has more than a decade of experience as a journalist and photographer reporting from Delaware on the environment, climate change, courts, business and more. As a freelancer, she has worked with the Associated Press, Climate Central, Grist, NPR, Popular Science, the Washington Post and numerous other local and regional publications.

Before launching her freelance career at the end of 2021, Maddy briefly worked as a part-time writer for the University of Delaware’s College of Engineering and as a communications specialist for the nonprofit Delaware Center for the Inland Bays. Prior to that, she was a staff journalist at USA Today Network’s Delaware Online/The News Journal covering statewide environmental stories and general news out of southern Delaware.

Maddy is an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists and the Society of Environmental Journalists. She graduated with a dual degree in English and journalism from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where fries on sandwiches truly made her feel right at home.

Maddy grew up on the East Coast and now lives in Dover, Delaware, with her husband, Scott, their young daughter and far too many pets. In her free time, she enjoys riding horses, birding and falling out of her kayak.
